Icy Roads Cause Multiple Louisiana Auto Accidents

Last Friday several Louisiana auto accidents resulted after area roads became covered in thin sheets of ice. Most of the reported Louisiana car crashes occurred on bridges, which can quickly freeze. About 11 Louisiana car accidents were reported in Morehouse Parish in about three hours. Two accidents in particular happened on the same bridge within eight minutes of one another. 

Officials warn drivers to be more cautious when driving in icy conditions by slowing down and remaining aware of other drivers on the road.

Louisiana Auto Accident Results in Death of Teen

Last weekend a teen was killed in a Louisiana auto accident after he lost control of his car. According to reports, the young driver lost control of his car, which then left the road, overturned, and struck a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car and became pinned between the roof and the ground.

 While the investigation of the Louisiana car crash is still pending, officials suspect that alcohol may have played a factor.

Louisiana Truck Accident Causes Serious Traffic Complications

Earlier this week a truck overturned on Interstate 12 near Covington, spilling all of its contents along the road and causing traffic delays for about 10 hours. According to the driver, the sun blocked his vision and caused him to swerve and lose control of his truck, which overturned along the interstate. 

The Louisiana truck crash caused traffic delays for most of the day, as traffic was slow-going in both directions while road crews cleared the truck and its content from the road. All lanes were finally open a little before 6 p.m. 

Additionally, the slow traffic caused a Louisiana auto accident, which resulted in minor injuries.

Louisiana Motorcycle Accident Results in Death

Last weekend a man was killed in a Louisiana motorcycle accident in Pointe Coupee Parish. Police reports state that the man had difficulty going around a curve while westbound on La. 78, which cause him to cross into the eastbound lane, run through a ditch, and then hit a tree.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead around 4:30 p.m. at the scene of the Louisiana motorcycle crash.
